About Henry Adeola:

Dr. Henry Ademola Adeola is a clinician-scientist with a PhD in cancer proteomics and genomics from the University of Cape Town through an International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) doctoral fellowship. His doctoral work focused on using mass spectrometry and protein microarray-based technologies to identify novel individualized, population-based, urinary, and serological biomarkers of cancer in a heterogeneous cohort of South African patients. Dr. Adeola trained as a Dental Surgeon at the University of Ibadan Medical School and did his postgraduate residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology/Biology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria. He was a visiting research scholar in molecular pathoepidemiology of cancer at the Department of Tissue Regeneration and Reconstruction, Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital in Japan, as well as the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM) at the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. He is a sessional faculty at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, University of the Western Cape at Tygerberg Hospital, South Africa. He was the Project Manager of the Cancer Research Initiative of the UCT Faculty of Health Sciences Deanery, and an associate professor at UCT’s Department of Medicine. He is the Principal Investigator and Group Leader of the Proteomics, Pathology and Molecular Imaging (PPMI) Group at the Hair and Skin Research Laboratory of UCT. He was the 2022-23 recipient of the University of Missouri-South African Educational Program (UMSAEP) grant and was visiting professor to the University of Missouri at St. Louis, USA. He has certifications in clinical research from Harvard Medical School as well as in Data Science and Machine learning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He is currently a research associate professor of Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University, USA.
