About Grace McCulloch:

I am a horticulture student at NDSU, graduating in the spring of '25 and seeking to enter the horticultural production and business field. Throughout my plant sciences education, I have developed a wide range of knowledge on plant growth, landscape design, plant identification, disease and pathology, tissue culture and propagation, controlled environment agriculture, irrigation, and pest and weed management, including IPM practices. I am knowledgeable in herbaceous, woody, and turfgrass plants in all Midwestern USDA zones.

I proudly hold a Minnesota Department of Education Platinum Bilingual Seal, indicating my demonstration of advanced proficiency in Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening. My Spanish fluency provides a unique advantage in the landscaping and horticultural industries, as the workforce in these fields exhibits a diversity of cultures like none other. The ability to bridge language barriers and enhance accessibility in the workplace has continually proven itself to be crucial in ensuring that every person in the room is heard, understood, and included.

My time as an intern with the NDSU Agricultural Extension allowed me to further my understanding of the tasks associated with wide-scale agricultural care, the time-management and problem solving skills associated with working with live plant research, and an in-depth knowledge of pest and weed control through both chemical and organic methods. This position allowed me the opportunity to oversee and manage up to ten individual experiments, from mapping and planting to data collection and analysis. In 2023, I presented my research as a primary author at the ASA, CSSA, SSSA (Tri-Society) conference. I am knowledgeable and experienced in the production and management of winter wheat, spring wheat, durum wheat, corn, intermediate wheatgrass (Kernza®), and soybeans, as well as the operation of agricultural machinery.

My time within Student Government at NDSU overseeing a court of eight Associate Justices was an incredible influence on my leadership and communication skills. Experience in this role has significantly enhanced my professionalism, particularly in face-to-face and written communication. Leading the judicial branch has provided me with hands-on experience in management, conflict resolution, problem solving, policy and document review, parliamentary procedure, and public speaking.
