About Gautam Sharma:

I am an IT Consulting Executive and I help organizations strategize, innovate, execute and sustain their enterprise transformation objectives leveraging Enterprise Resource Planning applications also known as ERP.  With over 25 years as a trusted advisor with global consulting companies such as IBM, Capgemini, PwC, and Cognizant, I bring diverse perspectives around program execution, multi-disciplined business issues, integration challenges, and organizational change. 

As an account partner I have delivered over $120m in total deals, secured around ERP transformations, modernizations and upgrades. As a practice leader I have helped drive 200% business growth in the Enterprise Life Sciences business of Capgemini over a 6 year period. 

As a passionate leader, I have guided, managed, and motivated large and culturally diverse teams while building relationships with decision makers at customer organizations.

I have also been an entrepreneur who set up a brand to provide niche SAP thought leadership to Life Sciences clients.

IBM | Greater Atlanta Area                                                                                                                                                                                             2020 – 2023

Partner Public Markets focusing on Life Sciences, Health Care, State and Local Organizations

Managed multiple accounts inclusive of Stryker, Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS), Johnson and Johnson (J&J), the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), and the United States Air Force. Guided finance and supply chain transformation offerings and led a joint market collaboration plan around SAP for state and local organizations.

  • $12 million in net new business secured with public utility and state departments of transportation.
  • $8 million SAP enterprise asset management deal won with a large medical technical organization.
  • Developed new relationships at the state, city and county level in North Carolina, Illinois, California and created a go to market plan for ERP modernization initiatives in the SAP ecosystem of applications across 23 state, city, and county entities.

Led the vertical service line for the life sciences and healthcare sectors with $100 million P&L responsibility 60% increase in signings / client footprint achieved by spearheading a company-transforming SAP life science practice.

  • $15 million manufacturing transformation deal with a pharma unit dose manufacturer along with a $12 million full scope ERP modernization deal for a mid-sized pharma closed for Cognizant.

North America Practice Leader for SAP Life Sciences   

Oversaw a practice of matrixed SAP consultants and $80 million in SAP revenue to build Capgemini into the most respected SAP-enabled business transformation consultancy in the market. Developed staff to operate to full capacity and maximize abilities. 

  • 50% YoY client base expansion produced by optimizing targeted selling and restructuring the go-to-market approach.
  • $85 million in contracts written for an ERP upgrade for a renowned maker of arthroscopic devices, a TSA build for the second largest global flu vaccine manufacturer, and a transformation for a medical device market leader in hospital acquired infections.
  • Strategized top / bottom line growth in the life sciences sector by leveraging SAP as a key enabler and ensuring the SAP Horizontal offering delivered exceptional business value for clients.
  • 167% in SAP life sciences business growth (from $15 million to $40 million) attained in a 2.5 year period and 100% (from $40 million to $80 million) in six years.

Senior Principal – Head of Life Sciences SAP Center of Excellence (COE)        

Directed COE activities and prepared customer and SAP roadmaps. Developed business as a global account executive. Implemented the Ciba Vision business transformation initiative on time and on budget. Helped bring four new solutions to market by introducing industrialization from a process / technology perspective for the COE.

  • $20 million growth from net-new accomplished as the account executive for McKesson Provider Technologies.

Established the brand for this startup, as a niche provider of SAP thought leadership to life sciences organizations. Delivered SAP solutions to resolve pain points around supply chain excellence, product quality and compliance, and remediation consulting for existing SAP footprints. Retained Big 4 talent to hit the ground running. Grew the company from 3 to 15 staff.

  • Provided SAP system validation, testing, and compliance solutions for J&J, Smith & Nephew, Qiagen Sciences, and Stiefel Labs.

IBM | Greater Atlanta Area                                                                                                                                                                                             2002 – 2005 

Associate Partner   

Started as a senior manager and progressed to associate partner in the SAP service line. Guided large, global SAP programs, pursued sales, and advocated for innovation into IBMs SAP methodology with 40 employees generating $45 million in consulting revenue. Mentored staff. Developed and delivered a pre-configured solution for pharma / life sciences as part of a COE growth initiative.

  • Managed a team of 40 across three full cycle SAP deployments for a large life sciences market leader and oversaw a team of eight staff to implement a GMP / Part 11 compliant solution for a generic drug manufacturer.
  • $10 million contribution to the top line realized by managing to successful client pursuits. 
  • $5 million SAP footprint enhancement effort project managed for a biologics market leader.

PWC Consulting | Greater Atlanta Area                                                                                                                                                                    2000 – 2002 

Senior Manager, North America SAP Service Line   

Provided thought leadership as a subject matter specialist and oversaw practice development / support through project management of front-end solution development and process improvement initiatives. Helped PwC in the firm’s first ever eBusiness / eMarket initiative by creating solutions around Ariba and Commerce One. 

  • Led manufacturing and supply chain teams with five to 20 employees for numerous full cycle SAP implementation projects with clients such as Lucent Technologies, Cadbury Schweppes, Gillette, Pitney Bowes, Nav Sea, and the Defense Logistics Agency. 
  • $10 million global eProcurement opportunity identified by directing a team of eight to implement an eProcurement pilot based on the SAP markets enterprise buyer solution for a global consumer packaged goods (CPG) enterprise.
  • Stewarded a joint team of five that analyzed the strength of private exchange technology for a global CPG enterprise against critical business requirements including value proposition, functionality, architecture, standards, and security resulting in a strategic business impact on the SAP SRM solution from SAP Markets.
