About Gabriellyn Corbin:
Dear Faculty and Staff, I’d love to be considered to become a part of your community. My Reason for wanting to become an art teacher is to create an individualized environment for my students and a safe place for them to develop artwork. I intend to accomplish this goal by bringing in art history examples that represent different cultures, genders, and, perspectives. I plan to use these aspects to help students from different backgrounds find interest when creating art within my classroom but also help students be successful in accomplishing the different standards along with the projects. As I will be going into my first year of teaching, I would love the opportunity to help scaffold students onto higher levels of creative problem-solving skills. Nothing gives me greater joy than to watch students engage in learning especially when the learning involves creating. My love for teaching has been with me since I was a child I have had the opportunity to have my own English horseback riding lesson program, but teaching art has always been a need for me as well. My knowledge and experience in printmaking, painting, and, drawing have led me to want to share my love for this subject with others. I also have specialized in art history and integrated art media. This means you can ensure that students will be learning about the different art from many different cultures since I believe representation is important and can be a great tool that can show diversity. My cooperating teacher at Mississippi Elementary Schools, Amanda Loidolt, inspired me to focus on students' problem-solving skills and the process it takes students to get to their final projects rather than grading solely on the final projects. I feel my current lesson plans reflect this and I aspire to continue this with my future students. It is crucial to me to build relationships with not only students and colleagues but also the school community. I’d like to do this by creating a great rapport with parents and families in the community. I think a great way to do this is by implementing an art show that allows students to feel special and parents to see the students’ talents. I’d love to be considered to become a part of your community. I will be moving to Michigan from Minnesota due to my husband's being accepted to a PhD program in physics. This means that I will have to wait for the license to get transferred from Minnesota to Michigan, but I will have started the process, and I should have my license before the school year begins. I received 55 out of 75 on the EdTPA, and I was told all three of my tasks were above the passing minimum. I hope this shows your institution my passion for art education and what I would love to bring to your community. Sincerely, Gabriellyn Corbin-Graupmann |
