Frieda Embry-Seckler

I will graduate in May 2023 from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In December of 2022 I completed a sixteen-week SLPA Internship at Rocky Mountain Prep-Fletcher in Aurora, CO. I am certified to be a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant and am seeking employment. 

In December of 2022 I completed a sixteen-week SLPA Internship at Rocky Mountain Prep-Fletcher in Aurora, CO. Some of the tasks that I did included working with my supervising SLP, teachers, the school psychologist, and para's to come up with effective treatment plans, liased with my supervising SLP to conduct speech and language screenings, typed up Medicaid notes via ezEDMed after each session, collaborated with parents and/or support people to meet speech therapy goals, treated children ages 5-11 with speech and language impairment, and prepared lesson plans for each individual and group based session by making or printing materials that were needed for activities. Every day came with new challenges, and it was exciting working with students of all ages and applying the assessment and treatment process for communication disorders in real life situations. I am confident in identifying the needs of students, and I am skilled in providing therapy to students in various areas of speech and language. I have knowledge and experience treating children who have a variety of speech and language disorders such as receptive and expressive language, stuttering, articulation, phonological processes, voice disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. 

I have been attending the University of Northern Colorado since August 2019, and will be graduating in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. It has been a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to apply all of the skills I have learned throughout these last four years once I become an SLPA.
