In addition, most of my students have scored above average on the Florida State Assessments each year for both reading and math.

High School Biology - 9th Grade, 8/2015 to 6/2016

Instructed lecture, class activities, and experiments on the following topics: biological functions from cell functions to the overviewof anatomy and physiology (e.g.,unicellular living organisms to multicellular organisms). Approximately 78% of my students scored above average on the EOC (End of Course) Florida Biology State Exam.

Gulliver Academy Private School - Miami, FL Physical Science - 8th Grade,8/2013 to 6/2015

Topics covered include states ofmatter, mass versus weight, density, and solubility. Additional concepts explored include characteristic properties of unknown substances, melting/freezing, boilingpoints (fractional distillation), forces, motions, and energy. Major projectsimplemented in the physical science unit included an egg drop, a compound machine (Rube Goldberg) and energy conservation.

IB - MVP Biomedicaland Life Science – 7th Grade, 8/2013 to 6/2015

Taught the basic structures and functions of microorganisms, plant, and animal cells. Facilitated students to examine the role that DNA plays in the overall functions of organisms, electrophoresis (Forensic science) and genetic disorders. Also, students were taught how to compare and integrate the systems of the body, while examining their own growth and development. Furthermore, students were exposed to using doctor equipmentand software used to obtain vital signs of a patient.

Education

Enthusiastic, Hard-Working, and Experienced for Hire Science Teacher/Curriculum Developer

Dear Hiring Committee, My teaching career started overseas. I taught Chemistry at an American School in Istanbul Turkey, and various sciences for grades 6 to 9 in Cali Colombia, South America. Teaching overseas provided me with the cultural awareness, and sensitivities towards diverse learning needs. I teach my students to be future citizens of the world by using positive approaches to become lifelong learners and problem solvers. Teaching overseas taught me how to impact students of all backgrounds and cultures, by being open minded to their learning differences, beliefs, and natural curiosity of the world around them. In addition, I adapted to various cultures, while gaining knowledge of the languages and traditions different from my own. My relevant qualifications include my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education of Biology and Chemistry, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Also, I am professionally certified to teach science in Florida for grades 5 to 9. I have twenty-seven plus years of science teaching experience at the secondary level, both in private and charter schools. Presently, I teach at Doral Academy Preparatory Charter Middle School in Doral, Florida. I have taught at Gulliver Academy, David Posnack, Pine Crest and Miami Country Day private schools. In addition, I was the Pre-AP middle school science curriculum coordinator at David Posnack Jewish Day School, where I taught 6th and 8th grade students. At these various schools, I contributed to my students’ success in multiple areas serving as a science teacher for grades 6 to 9, class sponsor, cross country coach, and middle school science Olympiad coach. I created, developed, and implemented a hands-on science course for each school. I had the opportunity over the years to develop my technological skills while using either a Smartboard, or a ClearTouch interactive whiteboard. Furthermore, I have mastered using various online interactive learning, testing and communicative programs. These programs include the following: Gizmos, Adaptive Curriculum for Middle School Science, Blackboard, Edline, Colegia, Gradebook, Grade Quick, Dyknow, Quia, NearPod, Blooket, GradeCam, BrainPOP, USA TestPrep, and Google Classroom Suite of applications. I am committed to providing a positive interactive learning environment for all students, while contributing to their success as lifelong learners. With my skill set and proven track record, I can be a valuable addition to your company. I can be reached for an interview at your convenience. I wish to explore new career opportunities, where I can apply my curriculum developing and science teaching experiences. In addition, I am currently taking online courses in data analytics to expand my skill set. Thank you in advance for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Elizabeth Hanlon
