Davide Pisu
Pharmaceutical / Bio-tech
About Davide Pisu:
Currently an Assistant Professor with a lab focused in understanding innate immune responses to bacterial lung pathogens. Strong expertise in molecular biology (including CRISPR-cas9), genomics (bulk and single-cell methods), microbiology and immunology.
Experience
I am a biomedical researcher with over a decade of experience studying host-pathogen interactions, with a particular focus on Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. My training spans molecular microbiology, immunology, and translational infection biology. After completing my PhD in bacterial stress responses and a postdoctoral fellowship focused on alveolar macrophage heterogeneity and Mtb pathogenesis, I established my independent lab at Texas A&M University. My work combines in vivo models, functional immunology, and transcriptomic profiling to dissect how early immune environments influence disease outcome. I have experience leading collaborative research programs, mentoring students, and securing competitive funding from NIH and other agencies.
Education
PhD in Microbiology from the University of Padova, Italy, with a focus on bacterial stress responses and transcriptional regulation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (completed under the mentorship of Prof. Riccardo Manganelli).
Postdoctoral training in Immunology and Infectious Disease at Cornell University (with Prof. David Russell), specializing in alveolar macrophage heterogeneity and host-pathogen interactions during Mtb infection.
