I started working for Advance Auto Parts when I was 19.  After almost 27 years I retired!  I spent the most time as a general manager, approximately 8 years total.  

I wanted to see what else was out there.  27 years in a job that you started as almost a baby is a long time.  I needed more!  I wanted to learn more, do more!  So, I went about earning my 0215 insurance license.  Unfortunately, I chose the wrong company to work under because they sold almost as soon as I started.  The sale was not a good one and the insurance commissioner shut down the office.  It eventually reopened, but it was enough to sour me on that line of business.  

In any case, I love people, I love working, I enjoy responsibility, I work well under stress, and appreciate having a sense of purpose.   

I was responsible for my team, store maintenance, inventory, scheduling, payroll, merchandising- everything to do with a store.  I made sure my team was complete on their trainings, prepared bank deposits, reconciled drawers, made my sales goals, and kept my customers coming back with our legendary customer service!  

For my insurance work I was calling people who asked for information on insurance.  My job was to sell policies to those who were looking for coverage.  I was an independent agent, so I worked for myself.

I began school for pre-nursing. I completed several pre-requirements when I changed majors.  I changed to human services, and completed many courses for that field.  I did not, however, get to finishing my two mathematics or one science course.  I am just shy of my A.S.  The only reason I stopped my classes was because I was working too much.  As a general manager I was working a minimum of 50 hours per week.  I generally averaged 55.
