About Danielle Gonzalez:
My name is Danielle Gonzalez. I am pursuing a Master of Education in Counselor Education at LSU. In this program, I am studying courses to be a school counselor as well as a PLPC. I have a strong passion for working with children and hope to continue this into my career as a school counselor. I look forward to helping students of all ages develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
I am currently seeking work in the East Baton Rouge, Ascension, and surrounding parishes. I am open to counseling roles on the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as college counseling and career counseling.
Experience
I am currently completing my internship at Dutchtown High School. There, I:
- Completing 600 supervised counseling hours (240+ direct), providing comprehensive school counseling services to students in grades 9-12, including academic advising, social-emotional support, and college and career readiness
- Designed and delivered a classroom guidance lesson, “Find Out How Your Interests Connect to Careers: Exploring RIASEC and O*NET,” to 12th grade students to introduce career exploration tools and inform postsecondary planning
- Advised students and families on course selection, including 8th grade students with high school scheduling and ensuring students remained on track for graduation and aligned with post-high school plans
- Provided individual counseling to 10+ students per week to address academic progress, social-emotional needs, and behavioral concerns
- Collaborated with school counselors, teachers, administrators, and families to identify student needs and monitor the effectiveness of interventions
I am also a Graduate Assistant for LSU's Office of Civil Rights & Title IX. There, I:
- Developed 60+ educational Instagram posts to increase awareness of Title IX, campus and community resources, prevention initiatives, events, and national awareness months
- Assisted in the planning and implementation of Game Day for Change, a prevention event during Domestic Violence Awareness Month that engaged 300+ LSU students through interactive activities, education on domestic violence, and awareness of resources, in collaboration with LSU partners
- Tracked LSU faculty and staff completion of annual Power-Based Violence training using Excel and collaborated on strategies to improve training flow, accessibility, and participation across the LSU A&M campus
- Co-facilitated campus-wide prevention trainings, including Power-Based Violence and GRACE trainings, and contributed to revisions of training and resource materials to ensure language was clear, accessible, and easily understood by participants
Education
I graduated in May 2023 from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
I am currently a candidate for my Master of Education in Counseling at LSU. I will graduate in May 2026 after completing 60+ course credits and 700 counseling hours with 300+ being direct student services.
