- Provided direct patient care at a level 1 trauma center in accordance with the provider's orders and standards of nursing practice.
- Provide IV administration as needed, conscious sedation, and local anesthesia for wounds.
- Clean wounds, manage bleeding, splint fractures, and remove foreign bodies as appropriate.
- Assist other providers and physicians in lifesaving procedures, such as level 1 traumas, level two traumas, ingestions, cardiac and respiratory arrests, and intubations.
- Preceptor for new and transitioning nurses.
- Monitoring and management of chest tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilators.
- Providing education to patients and their families on disease processes, therapeutic regimens, including medication and non-medicated pain management techniques.
- Providing care and obtaining resources for victims of abuse and their families.
- Triaging patients based on their acute symptoms and appropriately providing care based on the patient's acuity.
- Documented all clinical encounters using EMR software and ensured that appropriate follow-up is provided within established timeframes
- Mental health intake process for patients with mental health disorders
- 1:1 supervision and de-escalating aggressive psych patients
October 2020 to September 2022: La Rabida Children's Hospital, Pediatric RN
- Caring for stepdown PICU/ NICU patients suffering from a long-term chronic illness, a traumatic injury, or a victim of abuse. Proficient in caring for high acuity trach/ventilator-dependent children, as well as G/J tube, NG, or TPN dependent. Rapid Response team RN, ground transport nurse, and Preceptor to new RN’s.
- Acute Care Clinic/ ED experience: Providing care to various illnesses demanding immediate interventions on pediatrics of all ages. Regularly cared for asthmatics and sickle cell patients in crisis, upper respiratory infections and lower acuity rashes, earaches, etc.
- Serves on various hospital wide committees including, Family Teaching Committee; this committee was founded to write standardized discharge instructions and guides to provide to parents of complex children to aid in their transition to home. Burn and wound committee and development committee where we discuss best evidence-based practice for protocols pertaining to our population.
