I'm a musician, educator, and Arabic translator. I teach viola, edit for the Journal of the American Viola Society, and provide translation and interpretation services.
Experience
I am a concert violist, educator, and researcher specializing in performance accessibility and cross-cultural music studies. I have performed internationally, including at Carnegie Hall, and serve in leadership roles with the American and International Viola Societies. As an advocate for accessibility in music, I develop and teach Body Mapping courses and have presented at conferences worldwide. Additionally, I am a licensed Arabic translator and a Pat Tillman Scholar, with a forthcoming doctorate in viola performance and Arabic studies.
Education
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (Viola Performance) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Music in Viola Performance and a Graduate Performance Certificate from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance (Summa Cum Laude) from Portland State University. Additionally, I studied Modern Standard Arabic at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
