Hi, my name is Chiquita Williams.  I am currently a Medical Social worker but aspiring to get into the Cybersecurity Field. I recently completed   The Cybersecurity Program through Full Stack Academy and received CompTIA Security Plus Certification. I Know that you are wondering why now and why the career change? I have always been good with computers and really a computer nerd. Computers and technology have always been an interest to me, and I have always been great at solving problems with technology. As a Social Worker, I wear many hats that I know will be helpful for the Cybersecurity world.   Some key assets that I can think of are Communication, Collaboration, Investigation, and Problem Solving.  These four things are great strengths to have in the Cybersecurity field.  These are skills that I have and want to continue to develop in the field.  From Social Work to cybersecurity I know that I will need to develop these skills more in a different way and continue to change my thinking as things will be totally different.

My goal as a Cybersecurity Professional is to help protect people and organizations.  I personally and family members have been a part of some scams that took many things from us.  I want to keep people aware of different things going on in the cyber world, so they don’t continue to lose their hard-earned money.  I also would like to keep organizations protected from cybercrimes that can hold up their production.  Even one is trying to make it and get by. We all have things we are working towards and want to protect. So, keeping jobs and organizations protected is big for me.

Cybersecurity is a very interesting field, however right now I am most interested in digital forensics and ethical hacking. These two topics caught my attention while in school, so I would like to study more and find out more about them. I am also very open as this is a new field for me so I know I will have to work a few jobs to find my niche. Even though I have no experience I am a very fast learner. I feel like my own computer knowledge, my schooling and my previous work experience shows that I am a hard and dedicated worker.  I feel it also shows that I am willing to learn. I have achieved a Bachelor’s and Master’s in the Social Work field, so as you can see, I am always willing to learn.
