Charles Hobbib

I currently run a Bar , called The Beer Barrel Inn in Oneonta, NY. Which has been a family business since 1971. I also own two rental properties and two houses in Oneonta. My father passed away last year and left these assets to me and my nineteen year old little brother. My father’s health wasn’t very good for the past ten years and my little brother and I have been helping him manage his businesses. My father also left my brother and I a karate business. My little brother is still active in karate , but due to financial reasoning my dad’s friend Fred took it over. My father was renting below the Chinese Buffet in Oneonta and when he passed away the landlord tried to force us to sign a lease and tried to charge us $300 more than what the previous lease was. My dads friend Fred owns 3 Elm Street a multi unit property off of Main St. Which long term made the most sense to keep the business alive,  and the karate business was barely making enough to cover the rent before it got raised. I have played every sport plus karate and still love the sport of Baseball as it is America’s historic past time. I have been to over five Yankees games, both at the new and old stadium in the Bronx, NY. Im also social media savvy, I have had social media for over 19 years of my life. I have seen the way traditional businesses are run and have also learned in school that a social media, and advertising presence can drastically change a businesses audience and revenue.  

I have worked in almost every field including retail, fast food, bar and restaurant , property management, construction and gym supervision. 
 

Taco Bell was my first job in 2012 at sixteen years old and then I got a closer job to my house due to not having my own transportation. I then started at the Boy’s and Girls Club, doing after school which also led to another side job washing dishes at a restaurant called Bella Michaels.  I worked both jobs part time while in high-school. I found another bar/ restaurant  job, due to the Boy’s club not giving me enough hours at My Fathers Place. Where I learned how to be a prep/line cook and a dishwasher. After I graduated high-school in 2014 , I moved to Delaware with my grandparents to gain residency so I could go to Delaware Tech for free. I started working retail at Under Armour for eight months and my dad had his second heart attack. So I moved back to Oneonta, NY to take care of him, and never got residency in Delaware. My father had his first heart attack when I was fifth-teen years old and I took responsibility into my own hands to save enough money to go to college. I worked for my dad at the Beer Barrel Inn , while I started school. I also picked up another seasonal job working retail at Dick’s Sporting Goods as well as going to school full time. I got laid off from Dick’s Sporting Goods after the holiday season and then started working at a gym called Table Rock Fitness cleaning the gym and doing front desk. I was also commuting and hour to go to school in Delhi and my father’s health issues got worse. My father had a major heart surgery where he had to get a LVAD the left side of his heart failed and they replace it with batteries. So I was only working about one day a week at Table Rock Fitness, and it wasn’t enough money to pay for my gas to school and back. I focused on my education and returned back to work for my dad at the bar as well as helping him with the property rentals. I also worked full time over the summer doing roofing and concrete  , for one of my dads friends at Twin Mountain Top Construction. Until I almost fell off the edge of a hundred and ten foot barn. I was scared of heights before that , but seeing life before my eyes was enough to make me go back to working for my dad. 

Bachelors Degree in Communications at Oneonta State in 2024. I took five years off after high school to gain some income to self support my education. I graduated high school in 2014. I started my college career at Delhi Tech, where I did my associates degree. I was able to get my grades up from highschool and even reached Deans list at Delhi as well as various Academic Achievement Awards. I then transferred to Oneonta State a year after covid, because I didn’t get the vaccine and I was only able to do six credits from virtually from home. I got into Oneonta State a year later with a religious exemption, due to my sister getting cancer from the vaccine.
