About Camille Roy:
I am 29 years old and have recently moved to Nashville from Fayetteville AR. I have a bachelors of science degree in Forensic Chemistry with a minor in legal studies. Some of my favorite activities include reading, hiking, trying new restaurants and spending time with my dog. I am looking for a position that will allow me to grow and gain new experience in the chemistry field.
Experience
I spent 2 years working for the Mississippi State Crime Lab as a Forensic Drug Chemist. As a Forensic Drug Chemist my main responsibility was to examine samples for the presence or absence of illicit substances. I was able to handle, examine, test and analyze substances such as methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and a large variety of pharmaceuticals. During my time in this position, I gained extensive knowledge and experience operating, troubleshooting and analyzing data on GCMS and FTIR instruments. Working at the crime lab allowed me to build a strong foundation utilizing my degree to test and analyze samples.
After my time at the Mississippi State Crime Lab, I began working at UL Solutions as a Laboratory Chemist where I performed safety testing on consumer goods. Primarily I tested consumer goods for levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and other toxic elements. I have performed extensive qualitative and quantitative tests on samples both in our inorganic and organic laboratories. Working at UL has allowed me to expand my chemistry experience in testing a different variety of samples and experience operating new instruments such as our ICP-OES, ICP-MS, HPLC-MS, GCMS and HPLC-TQ. I have been able to gain new experience in testing and analyzing new and different samples while continuing to build on my education and experience from my previous job.
Most recently I was a laboratory technician with JL Processing company. I was able to work as a technician performing organic chemical reactions to extract cannabinoids from CBD starting material. This process included operating batch reactors, filtration systems, rotary evaporators, and molecular distillation. Additionally, I was able to build upon my foundation of monitoring equipment parameters such as temperature, vacuum control, and rotation speed. Unfortunately my time was cut short due to the company dissolving, however during this time I was able to learn and gain experience in organic synthesis methods that I had not had the opportunity to do so previously. have a vast variety and experience testing different types of samples that have a high level of importance. Not only do I have experience in the lab, but I also have experience in Quality Control by following all standard operating procedures according to our ISO 17025 accreditation. I understand the importance of following these procedures to ensure that all samples are tested efficiently and accurately. For all of my positions I have learned how to accurately write reports and input data into our Laboratory Information Management System. I work well in a team setting while also being able to independently complete all responsibilities and tasks I have been assigned without much direction. I would love to work in this position to further build my knowledge and experience in testing different samples. My past experience and laboratory work would make me an excellent candidate to help benefit your company.
Education
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forensic Chemistry from The University of Mississippi with a minor in Legal Studies. The Forensic Chemistry program at The University of Mississippi is exceptional, being only one of six programs in the nation to be accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission.
