Caherine Farmer

I am a hardworking, driven, and compassionate individual looking to grow and expand my skillset as an Occupational Therapist. I have prior experience working in the school system with children grades k-8 as well as with the geriatric and aging population. I have knowledge and experience working in a mental health hospital facilitating a range of topic and educational groups for young adult partial, cognitive behavioral, and intensive outpatient populations. 

From 2017-2020 I worked as an activities assistant at a skilled nursing facility providing meaningful, stimulating activities to the geriatric population with a range of cognitive and physical functional abilities. From 2020-2021, I worked as a paraprofessional at a local middle school, following IEP's to provide inclusion students with the support and accommodations they need. From 2021-2022, I worked as a home health aide at an assisted living memory care facility, providing bedside care and assistance with ADLS. My first fieldwork experience was at a K-8 school in Brookline, Ma where I had several responsibilities including: formulating goals for IEP updates, tracking students progress towards their goals, working with students with complex diagnoses such as Rett Syndrome, working with low and high tech AAC devices including eye-gaze technology, as well as implementing evaluations and interventions. My second fieldwork experience was at Butler Hospital in Providence, RI. At Butler, I gained experience leading groups on different units such as the Young Adult Partial unit, the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy adult unit, an Intensive Outpatient program, and several inpatient units. I also gained experience administering ADL evaluations and recommending levels of care in the geriatric psych unit.
