Brandon King

I started violin at the age of 11. I excelled so quickly within my first year my teacher thought I was a prodigy.  I was not prodigy, but I was in fact, very advanced and learned music quickly. I still do to this day. I took privately as well as with the school Orchestra Program in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I held position as Concertmaster for the Fort Smith Youth Symphony we well as with the school orchestra for several years. I have a unique drive to work hard. I was already playing in weddings and recitals in High School. I recieved a full scholarship by the music department when I was 19, however, I left school to join various bands that played different music than classical. I have so much experience this part of my life as we did everything on our own. I learned various styles that they do not teach in college. I now am 38 years old and went back to school after auditioning for the UCA music department once again. I received all of my scholarship back and am currently seeking my degree in Music Education.

I am a full time student at UCA. My education did not come first academically until three years ago. My goal is to graduate Summa Cum Laude and continue on to get my Masters and eventually, God willing, my Doctorates in the Musical Arts. I know I can do it. I just didn't want to before and I was wasting my life away and had a completely different lifestyle of which I changed completely. Being on the road playing music and have a lot of ‘fame’ type recognition is what I considered emptiness compared to the value of helping others. I can do this through teaching students everything I have learned and pray they receive as much enrichment as I have experienced.
