Alyssa gerhart

Hello, my name is Alyssa Gerhart and this year I am a second semester sophomore. I moved here from Maryland where I lived my entire life before heading down to South Carolina. In high school I studied to be a teacher for all four years and found out that it was not my passion and not something I could see myself doing as a career. I wasn't too sure what I really wanted to do in college and started out with a degree in political science but quickly changed due to interest and career outlook. Currently I am studying computer science and taking a coding boot camp to help hone my skills.

After college I would love to delve into a career in software development. In this career I would be able to solve problems and be able to come up with creative solutions that would make me think outside of the box on a daily basis. 

On a more personal note, I am a very down to earth and driven person. I am someone who keeps a close knit circle and doesn't let others in without much contemplation. Some hobbies of mine include doing puzzles, watching shows and horror movies, thrift shopping and learning new things. I am always down to try something new or go to a new city for the day. Spontaneity is the theme, and fun is the game. 

This year I began a software developer boot camp that runs for a full year, we learn Java and go deep into front-end development. In addition I have been volunteering my time at a non-profit to keep up with their social media page as well as their web-page.

Currently I am studying computer science. Some more specific relevant coursework includes, Web Development, Intro to Computer Security, Theory of Computations, Algorithm Design I & II, Intro to Programming, Digital Logic, Assembly Language and Intro to Computing and Programming Concepts
