The Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Neurobiology - caesar (MPINB) in Bonn conducts basic research in the field of neuroethology.

The international research team investigates how animal behavior in its full range arises through the collective activity of numerous nerve cells.

The interdisciplinary research ranges from the representation of neural circuits at the nano level to the analysis of neural activity in a freely moving and naturally behaving animal.

The MPINB works closely with the University of Bonn and other research institutes in the region and trains the next generation of researchers, including in a joint graduate school.

We are currently looking for a

Student Assistant (m/f/div)
in the Animal Facility
(approx. 5 hours per week, on weekends and holidays)

The contract is initially limited to one year.

Job Description


You will support our team in animal care and ensure that all control intervals and care tasks are reliably carried out in our animal facility, even on weekends and holidays.

Your tasks

  • Health checks (mice, rats, naked mole rats, fish, frogs)
  • Food supply and feeding
  • Water control
  • Functional control of technical systems
Your profile

  • You are a student of biology or a related field and have some experience in handling animals
  • You are reliable, flexible, and have a team spirit
  • You work conscientiously and responsibly
