Job Summary:

This position is responsible for auditing the day to day operations of the vineyard team and providing progress updates to the Director.

The role is highly focused on employee training, quality control, and project management. This includes understanding and following the annual farm plan and budget and executing actual performance variances.

The role manages all aspects of client budgets and quality expectations throughout the year ensuring client satisfaction with Atlas services leading to client retention.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Execute Atlas' exceptional quality operational protocols in accordance with client expectations.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings and weekly safety tailgate meetings ensuring all team members understand the work hazards and safety standards.
  • Continuously assess the work environment to ensure there are no safety hazards and ensure that all team members are in compliance with proper safety standards including eye protection, safety vests and proper footwear.
  • Manage and coordinate the seasonal Spray program with the Operations and Viticulture Team.
  • Train with employees when additional assistance is needed. Train new employees on specific tasks needed to execute their position.
  • Recruit new team members and treat all team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain low turnover on your teams by building relationships and setting structured expectations and accountability.
  • Ensure all hours logged by activity are correct in AgCode before payroll processes the checks and ensure all team members get paid correctly.
  • Work with the Director to cultivate new relationships with potential new vineyard clients.
  • Provide weekly updates on all vineyard activities to your clients and to internal teams as needed.
  • Work directly with your assigned analyst to create vineyard farm plans and annual budgets that match client and vineyard quality expectations.
  • Audit all farming activities in accordance with the farm plan ensuring quality expectations and budgets are met.
  • Take immediate corrective action as appropriate to ensure all hours are well managed within the set budget targets.
  • Create and get approval for Change Orders that are activities beyond the scope of the budget.
  • Coordinate with the Development team to manage development projects activities on your assigned vineyards and ensure completion within budget targets.
  • Collaborate with our Winery Relations Manager with winery tours and any grape sales client request as needed.
  • Collaborate with other vineyard managers sharing equipment and crews as needed to ensure the most critical vineyards are supported appropriately.
  • Work with the viticulture department on work orders for all viticulture directed activities including execution of spray & irrigation work orders ensuring equipment and product is set up in accordance within specifications.
  • Use company software to generate work orders and communicate work orders to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure collection of all water reporting data for each vineyard under supervision and compliance with water rights and licenses.
  • Assist with harvest by setting up crews and equipment, providing crews with precise specific direction of picking rows/blocks/max tonnage and delivery times to wineries.
  • Assist with all vineyard data management and all internal requests for information on your assigned vineyards.
  • Communicate daily with your Director to ensure transparency of all activities including budget and quality variances to ensure clear corrective action is discussed and taken.
  • Manage miscellaneous vineyard projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team on all equipment needs and noted repairs Non-Essential Functions of the Position.
  • Assists with management of the invoice coding as needed by the Regional Manager and Accounts Payable.

Job Requirements:


  • Min, 5 years' experience in agricultural management, preferable in a premium grape growing environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Viticulture or related field.
  • Spanish and English Speaking and Written Abilities.
  • Microsoft Office Excel and Word proficiency.
  • Google Suite Proficiency including Google Mail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar.
  • Polished interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build a strong and cohesive team.
  • Competitive spirit and desire to be successful.

Skills:


  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to keep neat and accurate records.

Physical:


  • Able to walk for sustained periods through difficult conditions (such as mud, soft dirt, rocks, etc).
  • Able to safely drive an ATV through difficult terrain for relatively long periods of time.
