    Description

    Office of Prevention Education and Outreach (PEO) is part of the Division of Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and supports workforce development and personal success for the campus and the surrounding community and region.

    PEO aims to become a model prevention education program to promote safety and inclusivity in communities.

    The Assistant Director is an integral part of the PEO team and will use their relationship building skills, experience with diverse teams and content creation ability to facilitate workshops and presentations.

    The Assistant Director will use innovation, individuality, and creativity to develop and scale programming and design multi-media content.

    Position Summary


    The Assistant Director is an integral part of the PEO team and is responsible for developing, creating, and facilitating comprehensive and inclusive training and workshops for professional and workforce development related to diversity, inclusive leadership, equity, cultural intelligence, and coalition building.

    The Assistant Director will be responsible for planning and carrying out program activities, creating and facilitating workshops and trainings, conduct program marketing and outreach activities, recruit program participants, and conduct and analyze evaluation and assessment of events related to PEO and ADEI.

    Training, workshops, and consultation are conducted for on campus groups and community/regional organizations.


    The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Prevention Education and Outreach (PEO) and will receive guidance and duties from the Violence Prevention Program Director under the leadership and vision of the Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

    The Assistant Director will help plan and carry out signature events during national awareness months related to prevention education including but not limited to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Stalking Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and others designated by the department and division.

    The Assistant Director will assist to monitor student workers.


    In addition, the Assistant Director will work collaboratively with university departments and community partners to create workforce development workshops, education and awareness programs and professional development initiatives.

    The Assistant Director must be committed to educating on topics that are sensitive in nature including sexual misconduct, non-discrimination, equity, inclusion, diversity, belonging and others.

    The Assistant Director must be organized, adaptable, knowledgeable, and trained in prevention education, diversity, equity, and inclusion and have demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Training Development and Facilitation


    • Research, create and develop content for workforce development, professional development and student training workshops including but not limited to power point presentations, worksheets, handouts, facilitator guides and activities.
    • Help develop and build curriculum for 10-hour leadership certificate programs.
    • Plan, schedule, organize and facilitate projects, events, educational workshops, and activities to prioritize and accomplish work.
    • Facilitate workshops and other training sessions related to sexual violence, non-discrimination, diversity, equity, inclusive leadership, cultural intelligence, mental health and other relevant and requested topics.
    • Utilize instructional techniques, research findings, emerging practices, and multiple training delivery models to advance, scale, modify and evaluate training and professional development programs for industry and companies, faculty, staff, students, university constituents, and community agencies.
    • Research and provide workshop topics that are innovative and relevant to workforce development for new programs and to improve existing programs.
    • In conjunction with Director of PEO, engage and collaborate with campus and community members and partners to advance and scale programming.
    Outreach, Partnerships


    • Ability to manage relationships, documenting and tracking contact and response information.
    • Work productively with others using active listening and problem-solving skills to achieve sustained positive working relationships.
    • Identify and understand the needs of the customer to effectively contract for workforce development education. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with internal and external individuals and organizations, including developing and sustaining both new and existing partnerships.
    • Develop and manage documentation (spreadsheets, data software system, project management platform, etc.) of potential clients with updated contact information, engagement with clients, response information, and outcomes.
    • Scale program and develop new partnerships for bringing in new business by building connections and opportunities for workforce development education and elevate program presence.
    • Attend committee meetings as directed.
    • Collaborate with student workers to help provide guidance on planning events and activities.
    Marketing


    • Work closely with Marketing and Communications, Faculty Development and Instructional Design, Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, Continuing and Professional Education and eLearning Services to develop multi-media visual aids, brochures, training materials, power point presentations, monthly and annual reports, e-Learning modules i.e., video, voice over, editing and webinars.
    • Develops written and visual media content and provides timely updates for PEO websites and social media platforms.
    • Maintains the departmental online event system, email, scheduling, marketing, and communications.
    • Work together with PEO and Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to develop and carry out program communication plans.
    Evaluation and Assessment


    • Establish and implement training and development goals and objectives, policies, and procedures.
    • Develops, plans, and executes assessments to evaluate PEO sponsored programs and events.
    • Creates learning outcomes for workshops and presentations to align with an evaluation and assessment plan of learning for participants.
    • Assess and interpret data and develop reports monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual and ad hoc.
    • Analyzes data and develops reports related to program outcomes, outreach efforts, marketing analytics, learning outcomes, and uses data to inform decision making and improvements.
    • Utilize Qualtrics, Microsoft Forms, Survey Monkey and other survey tools to survey campus and community experiences and activities.
    Administrative


    • Identifies and participates in professional development programs to remain current on policies, laws, trends, and best practices.
    • Seeks out new, innovative, and efficient ways of completing assignments, trainings, educational workshops, and data analysis.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of PEO and/or ADEI leadership.
    Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)


    • Bachelor's degree.
    • A total of at least two (2) years (24 months) experience in content creation, education, training, facilitation, planning or management.
    • One (1) year (12 months) of experience in outreach program development, partnership building and/or revenue generation.

    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects

    • Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups

    • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems

    • Skill in providing program outreach to clients, building relationships and sustaining positive and cohesive working relationships and partnerships with clients and colleagues.
    • Skill and high knowledge proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and outlook.
    • Ability to teach or train diverse groups of learners.
    • Skill and ability to develop learning outcomes and related content for diversity, equity, inclusive leadership, and cultural intelligence grounded in research.

    • Master's degree in education, cultural studies, organizational development, sociology, social work, or other related field.
    • Three (3) years direct professional experience in facilitation, workshop development, and curriculum related to diversity, cultural intelligence, inclusive leadership, and/or workforce development.
    • Two (2) years professional experience with progressively more responsibility in project management.
    • Two (2) years of experience in outreach program development, partnership building and/or revenue generation.
