    Who we're looking for

    Connected Technologies is a group within Toyota, focused on delivering industry-leading user experiences and new technologies for our Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

    We're looking for a passionate and highly motivated Software Engineer II for our EV Engineering team that continues to expand in impact. In this role, you will be responsible for streamlining and improving our global back-end software development program. We need someone with a unique combination of initiative, product awareness, customer focus, and experience working within a software development program to help guide and shape our planning, development, and evaluation processes to enable our global team.

    In addition, you will work within a global software and hardware development program that is building next-generation user interface software, primarily for North American, Europe, and Australian market vehicles. This is a large program with many teams, dependencies, and lines of communication. You will need to collaborate closely with a wide range of contributors, including internal software developers, external vendors, other project managers, and quality assurance to streamline processes, automate tracking, and drive product development capabilities.

    Your expertise and skills as an agent-of-change within the back-end engineering team will be pivotal in guiding and reporting on the requirements, design, and software development lifecycle

    What you'll be doing:

    • Lead software development to ensure that applications are designed with operational considerations in mind.
    • Provide support and direction to net new requirements and work intake.
    • Participate in the design, coding, and architecture of systems, ensuring they meet the operational and performance requirements.
    • Support internal & external stakeholder engagement and represent Toyota in 3rd Party Engineering discussions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve code and customer reported issues (CMS Tickets).

    What you bring:

    • Bachelor of Computer Science or related Engineering field; and/or commensurate experience.
    • Proven experience in software engineering.
    • Project management experience.
    • Proven experience in software service development.
    • A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.

    Added Bonus if you have

    • Experience with Java, GO, and/or Python.
    • Knowledge of the AWS ecosystem.
    • Prior experience in Software or Electrical Engineering.
    • Automotive industry exposure a plus.
    • Previously launched a Software Service public facing deliverable.
