Payroll Specialist

SUMMARY


This position will be responsible for all payroll operations including: processing payroll through ADP, managing direct deposits, benefits withholding, payroll deductions, garnishments and leaves, flexible spending and HSA accounts, 401(k), benefit account transfers and subsequent recording transactions, wage and hour law compliance, paid leave, vacation, holiday and personal time and reporting through ADP.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for more than 250 employees.

Timely and accurate processing of payrolls according to established payroll schedule and in compliance with established procedures. This includes utilizing timekeeping system files, spreadsheet uploads, and manual data entry for employee hours.

Posting of job hours worked, recording time adjustments and processing of payroll records. Compile payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, benefits and employee identification number from time sheets and other records.

Submitting hours worked to temporary agencies as needed.

Record new or changed pay rates and update payroll data as well as benefits portal. Scan all changes to employee file.

Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files and upload payroll files into ADP.

Process bonuses, special payments, and certain expense reimbursements.

Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.


Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, loan payments, garnishments, support orders and other legal withholdings for each employee to update payroll records and employee records.

Balance payroll and deductions and reconcile discrepancies in a tight time frame prior to service provider transmission.

Review payroll to ensure accuracy.

Prepare benefit account transfers (such as HSA, Aflac, 401(k) etc) and create subsequent general ledger transactions.

Maintains accurate records and documentation related to payroll processing.

Record data concerning transfer of employees between departments.


Timely research and resolution of payroll inquiries from employees, HR, department managers, and other parties while maintaining top-notch service and a sense of urgency.


Record employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, direct deposit information, tax data, attendance, performance review or evaluations, and termination dates and reason.

Prepare, create and update custom reports within the payroll system as needed.

Create and update time off policies within payroll system.

Assist in monthly closings by performing duties such as account reconciliations for accounts associated with payroll.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

REASONING ABILITY


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay:
$45, $60,000.00 per year
