Rush University Medical Center, a highly regarded clinical and academic institution in the heart of Chicago, is seeking applicants for the role of Endocrinology Faculty within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology.
The ideal candidate will have a particular focus on thyroid cancer, endocrine cancers, and endocrine complications resulting from cancer treatments.
Renowned for its academic excellence, Rush University Medical Center houses a well-established Endocrinology Division comprising 6 dedicated faculty members and a team of 6 advanced practice providers.
The Division is committed to providing comprehensive education to its students, residents, and fellows; the endocrinology fellowship program is a joint effort between Rush and the nearby John H.
Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Within the practice, there are outpatient clinics and two inpatient consultative services - one for general endocrinology and diabetes, and another for calcium disorders.
The calcium service also operates as a Fracture Liaison Service, focusing on enhancing the bone health of Rush patients who have experienced fractures.
The responsibilities of the candidate will involve treating diabetes, osteoporosis, and general endocrinology patients in the clinic. Additionally, a portion of the role (~25%) will focus on patients referred from the cancer center with endocrine complications due to their treatments (e.g., checkpoint inhibitor endocrinopathies), as well as patients with thyroid cancer and other endocrine cancers (preferably around 25%, with flexibility).
The candidate will also participate in the consult services on a rotational basis alongside the other general endocrinology attendings (equating to 7-9 weeks per year, including weekends).
Applicants must possess a strong background in clinical care and educational activities. While experience in managing thyroid cancer is beneficial, mentorship will be provided for the right candidate showing interest. Candidates should hold an MD/DO degree, have completed specialized training in Endocrinology, and be board certified or eligible in the field.
