Minimum Qualifications


Seven (7) years of experience working in a legal office, with familiarity with reviewing legal documents and opinions as well as experience handling sensitive or confidential matters.

Education Substitution
An Associate's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of the general experience.
A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four (4) years of the general experience.


Duties Description


Under the direction of the Deputy Counsel, the Project Assistant will be responsible for the design, implementation, organization, and management of Legal's Opinions Database and Interdivisional Shared Tracking System.


  • Categorize historical legal opinions dating back to the 1950s, which are currently in paper format.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings, making critical project recommendations to Legal's executive management team, and monitoring the progress of each project being undertaken.
Design, create, and help publish the Division of Legal Service's Intranet webpage.

  • Work with units within Legal to draft content, determine appropriate links and reference materials, and work with OSC's Chief Information Office on the designing and publishing of Legal's Intranet page.
Personnel, purchasing, and administrative support.

  • Administrative/personnel/budgetary liaison duties for the Division, and additional tasks and projects as requested by the Counsel and Deputy Counsel.

Telecommuting:


The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs.

Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks.

After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so.

Upon approval to telecommute, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period.
