Our Requirements

The general expectations for the new head of school are based on the Hessian School Law, the service regulations, the general information in the Hessenportal, and the decree on the job posting and selection process for filling positions dated November 24, 2017 (ABl. 1/18 p. 35 ff.).

The following qualifications are mandatory for the position:

Teaching qualification for gymnasiums
Proven track record in a school leadership position with high overall responsibility (e.g. deputy head of school), preferably at a school with multiple educational programs
Extensive teaching experience (at least 5 years) in secondary level I and II, preferably at a school with multiple educational programs
Comprehensive experience in conducting Abitur exams

The following qualifications are desired and should be met to the greatest extent possible:

Counseling and educational competence
Collaboration and delegation skills
Ability to engage in dialogue, communicate effectively, and handle conflicts
Experience in personnel management and staff development
Planning and organizational skills
Budget authority, administrative and legal knowledge
Innovation and initiative
System design and control
Conceptual thinking and strategic competence
Sense of duty and responsibility
Intercultural competence and social behavior
