The International Office is looking for tutors for the "Language and Orientation Program for Exchange Students" in Chanute, KS.

We are seeking dedicated tutors to support our new exchange students during the orientation program before the start of the winter semester 2023/24.

Your responsibilities will include leading introduction tutorials and assisting students with getting familiarized with Leuphana University in Lüneburg. We are expecting approximately 80 new exchange students from all over the world in the upcoming semester.

Responsibilities:

Contacting students via email
Assisting with arrival, picking up from the train station, and accompanying students to their accommodation
Helping with necessary paperwork and documents
Introducing students to the structures of Leuphana University in small groups (approximately 10 students per group), such as campus tour, cafeteria, library, etc.
Accompanying day trips
Coordinating schedules with program coordinators

Requirements:

Availability from September 01, 2023 (including weekends)
Good knowledge of university structures and institutions
Familiarity with the campus and the city of Lüneburg
Experience in intercultural communication
Excellent German and English skills
Proactivity and flexibility

The workload is 20 hours in total and will be compensated according to the usual rate for student assistants. Attendance at a tutor training session (date will be communicated in advance) is mandatory.
