Project Safety Manager for
Clinton, IA.
Project Safety Manager Primary Responsibilities
- Facilitate and manage the contractor and supplier prequalification process using ISNetworld contractor management platform.
- Alert the Sr. Project Manager when contractors or suppliers do not meet minimum safety qualifications and assist with developing an action plan for compliance.
- Oversee and Manage the Safety Orientation and On-Boarding Processes for all employees, visitors, suppliers, and contractors.
- Routinely inspect the construction site for hazards and unsafe behaviors. Work with the site leadership team to resolve any discrepancies.
- Facilitate or lead prejob meetings to ensure all operations are planned and executed safely. This may include daily toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and project planning meetings to name a few.
- Select, purchase, and issue all Companyprovided safety equipment such as PPE, confined space monitoring & rescue equipment and Lockout / Tagout supplies.
- Oversee the site Permit to Work program to ensure permits are issued for critical activities such as confined space entry, hot work, and trenching.
- Interact and work closely with the Sr. Project Manager and individual Project Leaders to ensure project safety checklists are completed and action items are tracked to closure.
- Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of new OSHA, EPA, and/or DOT laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Develop and implement environmental compliance plans and reporting for air quality, storm water, wastewater treatment, and hazardous materials management.
- Create or modify safety policies and safety compliance written plans, as needed.
- Conduct regular plant safety audits, including inspection of facilities, worksites, equipment, work practices, and safety devices to ensure compliance with required workplace safety standards, regulations, and Company policy.
- Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Identify hazardous workplace conditions, perform, and document job hazard analysis. Coordinate activities to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Manage the investigation and assessment of workrelated injuries, illnesses, and near miss incidents. Work with Human Resources on workers compensation and return to work programs.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct all monthly environmental and OSHA required safety training programs and classes.
Coordinate and/or conduct additional training programs, such as:
Confined Space, Forklift, and First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, such as: fire department, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
- Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position Job Safety Analysis' (JSA's).
- Remain informed of any changes or the development of new EHS regulations that are applicable to the business; keep Senior Management and plant leadership informed accordingly.
Project Safety Manager Experience
- Five (5) or more years of Environmental, Health & Safety management experience in the Construction Industry
- Experience in managing projects throughout all phases of construction
Project Safety Manager Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to interact and work effectively with all levels or the organization
- Ability to prepare and facilitate training on various EHS topics
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar computer software
Project Safety Manager Education, Licenses & Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety (preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience
Project Safety Manager Additional Information
***- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working from a computer
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time at a construction site and within an industrial manufacturing facility this may include climbing stairs, ladders, and similar elevated surfaces
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, dusty, and noisy environments as they relate to weather, machinery, and plant operations *Personal protective equipment will be provided accordingly.
