Position Summary:
The Division Administrative Officer (DAO) is a new position within the School of Dentistry.

It offers the opportunity to provide leadership in the management of the four academic divisions:
Regenerative and Reconstructive Sciences, Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences, Preventive and Restorative Sciences, Oral and Systemic Health Sciences.

The position provides support to the Associate Dean, Finance and Administration by serving as the lead for administrative and financial matters related to the academic divisions.

This includes implementation of policies and procedures and workflow analysis of administrative functions in the division. Serves as advisor to the department Chairs, responsible for managing the divisions' operating budget and fiscal resources. Position serves as supervisor to 13 division coordinators who are assisting the divisions. Incumbent will also be responsible for administrative support of the MS/PhD graduate degree program.

The School of Dentistry consists of approximately 75 full-time faculty FTE and offers post graduate education and residencies in dentistry.

The School has 13 dental clinics and community based clinical education programs.

Salary & Compensation:

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships on all personnel levels, within and outside the University. (required)
  • Demonstrated English verbal communication skills to convey a variety of information concisely and accurately to administrative officers, faculty, students, and staff at all levels, as well as skill in obtaining information, recommendations, and feedback. (required)
  • Demonstrated English writing communication skills sufficient to draft and edit correspondence, proposals and policies. (required)
  • Skill in managing multiple concurrent projects from inception to completion. (required)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to academic personnel, accounting and finance, contracts and grants, student affairs, residency programs and visa processing. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership skill in managing an organization with multiple objectives, goals, multiple reporting relationships, limited resources, and in effecting operational change in a proactive and timely manner. (required)
  • Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, and administration for a $1.5 million budget with multiple funding sources, including skills to appropriately correlate available resources within program needs. (required)
  • Skill in performing effectively with frequent interruptions and distractions, under conditions of fluctuating workload. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising nonacademic personnel, including training, delegating responsibility, monitoring, and evaluating performance. (required)
  • Skill in examining, synthesizing, and analyzing information relating to problems, policies, and procedures. Skill in identifying existing and potential problems and proposing appropriate solutions. (required)
  • Skill in event planning and management. (required)
