Duties:

The duties of the position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability), DevOps tool chains and processes, and cloud to end architecture, including and CSP providers, networking, provisioning and management.
  • Demonstrating leadership ability to back decisions with research and the "why", and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
  • Maintaining overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.
  • Developing solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
  • Contributing to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks.
  • Working with other enterprise, cloud, data, and solution architects in the design of a new cloudbased enterprise compute platform for a critical system at the Judiciary.
  • Analyzing, recommending, and implementing requirements, principles, and designing models that satisfy the needs of the various system components.
  • Leading the analysis of the current system platform migration strategy to a cloud architecture, understanding weaknesses of the current system, and motivated to utilize patterns which avoid these deficits in the future.
  • Ensuring delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/nonfunctional requirements.
  • Providing technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners.
  • Ensuring delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.
  • Providing support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations.

  • Selection for this position is contingent upon completion of OF306, Declaration of Federal Employment during the preemployment process and proof of U.S. citizenship for competitive status positions or conversion to a competitive status position with the AO.   • All new AO employees will be required to complete an FBI fingerprintbased national criminal database and records check and pass a public trust suitability check.
  • All new AO employees are required to identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.
  • You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a firsttime appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a firsttime supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
  • If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.

  • Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
