- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality, including keeping up-to-date personnel files and I-9 documentation, for active and terminated employees.
- Coordinate and facilitate HR training sessions and workshops for staff on different topics and act as a thought partner to identify training needs as they emerge.
- Answer day-to-day HR questions from employees across multiple sites and departments.
- Act as a project manager, coordinating and aligning efforts across various HR projects, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members as well as setting clear objectives and timelines to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Support HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, workforce planning, and organizational development efforts.
- Review exit survey data and HR analytics to identify trends and patterns, offering recommendations to enhance employee retention & engagement.
- Responsible for the onboarding of all new hires, including pre-boarding as well as collaborating with Talent Acquisition for new hire orientation.
- Collaborate with the CHRO & Director of HR Operations to negotiate benefit renewals and ensure best options for NSCH and its staff.
- Oversee the coordination and monitoring of employee timekeeping and leaves, including FMLA, STD, and state-specific leaves.
- Facilitate NSCH's worker's compensation program and liaise with the program provider.
- Provide ad-hoc reports from HRIS system and collaborate with HRIS vendor on system capabilities.
- Manage the HR census, job changes, and act as the payroll interface for all personnel actions.
- Research and provide recommendations on best practices for benefits administration, compensation practices, and employee wellness.
- Oversee the offboarding process for all employees, including conducting exit interviews and handling benefit COBRA paperwork.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to determine position specifications, pre-screening questions, as needed.
- Pre-screen resumes, conduct initial interviews and evaluate candidates' suitability for presentation to hiring managers, as needed.
- Perform other HR administrative duties as assigned.
- Attends weekly HR staff meetings

- Adheres to NSCH values and principles:
- HS diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience across different HR disciplines, including benefits administration, leave management, HR reporting, talent acquisition, etc.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as working knowledge of HR Information Systems
- Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle and manage highly sensitive information and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions, establish priorities and manage up in a busy work environment.

Primary Purpose of Position
As a vital member of the HR Team, the HR Generalist manages a variety of HR tasks and acts as a point of contact for NSCH staff regarding any HR-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HR functions, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for serving others. This position will specialize in benefits management, leave management, supporting HR daily operations including learning and development efforts as well as talent acquisition activities.
