Job Description About The Position**The K-12 Teaching & Learning team at KIPP Foundation sets the bar of excellence for what strong classrooms look like in the areas of K-8 literacy, K-8 math, and high school by establishing required practices for all KIPP schools in the areas of assessment, curriculum, and pedagogy. They also currently support KIPP schools and regions with science instruction and may expand the content areas in which we establish common practices in the future. To support this work, the team seeks a Director of K-12 Academic Operations who will take on the primary responsibilities of: ensuring that all KIPP instructional requirements are operationally feasible given possible guardrails and constraints in our regions, working with curriculum and assessment vendors to ensure that our partnerships meet our specifications, and managing the system by which we store and distribute key resources and tools associated with our requirements. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Teaching & Learning.


Responsibilities

Operational Academic Cohesion

  • Partner with the K8 literacy and math teams to ensure their requirements for curriculum, assessment, and instruction are operationally feasible in the day/week/month/year of a school schedule.
  • Partner with the HS design team to ensure that their recommendations for requirements are operationally feasible for KIPP high schools.
  • Partner with content teams to build tools to support region and school operational planning (scheduling guides, assessment guides, etc.)
  • Build a system to understand where and why regions or schools are having operational difficulties to adapt tools and resources for their situation while still meeting KIPP requirements.
  • Use learning gleaned from regional implementation and execution to continue to improve upon our requirements and associated products from an operational point of view.
  • Work on key strategic projects that surface throughout the school year, as needed

Partner/Vendor Management

  • Build relationships with KIPP curriculum and assessment vendor points of contact so that they have a clear understanding of our strategy for driving student outcomes and can work with us in alignment.
  • Manage strategic process to influence shifts to vendors products and services in alignment with our strategy.
