  • JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Purpose:
To independently support the daily activities of the Graphic Arts Print Shop by completing all digital printing production and Large Format for maximum production efficiency

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure that all jobs are completed in an accurate, timely and economical manner.
  • Responsible for operating digital commercial equipment using Fiery Command Workstation, Xante iQueue, Onyx Thrive or any other equipment software.
  • Support our Large Format department with printing and production
  • Imposing of files for print as required.
  • Updates job status in MIS system (Digital Storefront)
  • Produce orders accurately, efficiently, and quickly while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain a work and delivery schedule.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function.
  • Ensure the proper materials for each job assigned and all printed materials are of the highest possible quality.
  • Maintain, calibrate and operate all equipment to ensure equipment is fully operational. Report all needed adjustments or repairs to supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Open, close and ship jobs as required and recheck all printing jobs before shipping.
  • Tracks waste, spoilage, usage, and inventory for all digital equipment.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident. Any conditions that are not correctable by you are to be reported to the supervisor immediately.
  • Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job.
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee.
  • EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Experience:


  • Selfmotivated individual with experience in the Print industry.
  • Must be capable of operating Digital Printers and equipment.
  • Comprehension of color and Large Format is essential.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:


  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program

Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Digital printing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in math concepts.
  • Can perform basic bindery functions.
  • Ability to organize several activities and tasks concurrently.
  • Familiarity and comfortable with Fiery print controller, a plus.
  • Graphic design skills are a plus, but not necessary.
  • Exhibit ability to quickly learn operation of equipment and processes.
  • Exhibit effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to greet public both in person and by telephone.

Equipment Used

  • High volume Production Printers including Large Format Printers and laminator, Business Card Slitter, Envelope Printers, Flat bed printers, GBC Punch & Binder, Paper Drill, Perf/Scores/Numberer, Folder, Shrink Wrapper, Paper Jogger, Air Compressor, Power Lift for Paper, programmable paper cutter, Manual Pallet Jack, Electric Pallet Jack, 2 Wheel Dolly, manual Paper Cutter, Scale, Paddy Wagon, Light Table, Label Writer and Label Maker. and Web to Print software.

Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent moderate lifting and carrying pounds), occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), use of fingers (collate, staple, operate equipment efficiently), reaching above shoulders (remove supplies from shelves), standing (8 hours per day), kneeling (1 hour per day), repeated bending (5 hours per day-loading and unloading copiers, preparing jobs for shipping, unloading and loading copiers), specific visual requirements (ability to determine quality of finished product and to operate equipment safely), specific hearing requirements (ability to operate equipment safely, communicate with staff).

Excessive noise (intermittent), constant noise (7 hours per day), dust (paper dust and powder), fumes (copiers, camera), chemicals (solvents, chemicals used in daily operation of certain equipment), works around machinery with moving parts, working with hands in water, some irregular hours of work, working on small stools to shelve paper and supplies and to remove paper and supplies.
