Job Description:

The research topic is in the interdisciplinary field of fungal-based biomaterials, which are biotechnologically produced and material-technically analyzed.

System biology, molecular biology, bio-process engineering, and bioinformatics approaches will be pursued within the framework of a BMBF-funded industrial project to develop alternative ecological materials based on fungal mycelium.

The aim is to develop approaches for a circular economy, i.e. from production to use and return of materials to the resource cycle (cradle-to-cradle design).


Expected Qualifications:


  • Completed vocational training as a medicaltechnical assistant, biologicaltechnical assistant, or a bachelor's degree in biotechnology with a focus on microbiology, molecular biology, and bioprocess engineering.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:


  • Expertise in controlled liquid and solidstate bioreactor cultivation of fungi, in micro and molecular biological analysis and modification of fungi, in the production, modeling, and testing of biomaterials from fungi.
