THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


The role involves conducting thorough reviews and assessments of the impacts of both proposed and existing transportation facilities on the environment.

This includes evaluating how projects affect various aspects such as land forms, air quality, noise levels, water quality, land use patterns, cultural resources, socio-economic factors, scenic rivers, erosion and sedimentation controls, wetlands, storm water facilities, as well as threatened and endangered species.

Additionally, the position requires the preparation of a wide range of environmental documents to document findings and recommendations.

This involves attending scoping field views to gather necessary information and then communicating the level of effort required to prepare these environmental documents to design or consulting firms involved in the projects.


Fieldwork is a crucial component of this role, which includes tasks such as identifying and delineating wetlands, conducting surveys for threatened and endangered species, investigating Phase I waste sites, evaluating construction waste and borrow sites, inspecting erosion and sedimentation controls, and monitoring storm water facilities.

Furthermore, the individual will assist field personnel during construction and maintenance activities to address any environmental issues that may arise.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 30minute lunch.

Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1;
    or:
  • Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning;
    or:
  • A master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience;
    or:
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
