In the business division of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration of Baden-Württemberg, the Lower State Administrative Authority of the Karlsruhe District Office is seeking to fill the position of
Director of the Health Department (m/f/d) as soon as possible (functional job advertisement).

The position is currently classified in pay group A 16 with an official allowance.

Only physicians who have successfully completed the training for Public Health Services or can provide an equivalent qualification are eligible for the advertised position.


The Health Department is responsible for all matters related to public health services in the city and district of Karlsruhe, with a population of approximately 750,000.

The position includes both the professional and personnel as well as financial responsibility for the Health Department.

Currently, the Health Department is assigned to the Department of "Law and Order" at the Karlsruhe District Office.

With approximately 150 employees, it is divided into the areas of "Administration, Medical Expertise Center", "Health Promotion, Social Medicine", "Health Protection" and "Child and Youth Health Services".


We are looking for a person with high social and leadership skills, as well as extensive professional knowledge in the field of medicine, particularly in the area of Public Health Services.

Negotiation and organizational skills, flexibility, ability to motivate and guide employees, assertiveness and decision-making skills, as well as economic management, are also required, as well as the ability and willingness to set impulses for the conceptual development of Public Health
