RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews incident reports and schedule resident disciplinary hearings within the timeframe
  • Advises the facility on relating errors observed with incident reports and investigation documents
  • Ensures residents are provided with due process as required by FBOP guidelines.
  • Maintains records of hearings and applicable evidence for appeal
  • Conduct incident report investigation training to security and management staff
  • Familiarize with FBOP Statement of Work (SOW) and FBOP disciplinary process
  • Assist to conduct internal audit to ensure compliance with FBOP/ACA requirements.
  • Performs other related duties.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:


  • High school/GED required. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience counseling or supervising adult inmates in a correctional setting or one (1) year managing inmate directly as a probation filed officer. Consideration for experience obtained counseling or supervising adult inmates in a correctional setting on a yearforyear basis for the required education and training (Internship).
  • Working knowledge and purpose of FBOP disciplinary hearing procedures, activities and responsibilities of a hearing officer which includes, ability to analyze facts and testimony and reach a sound reasonable conclusions, understand resident base files and pertinent facts from the case records and present clear and concise recommendations in writing to the DHO
  • Experience handling facility and inmate disciplinary procedures, investigation, hearing, and compliance guidelines.
  • Excellent display of knowledge of trends in corrections and rehabilitation of criminal offender.
  • Experience conducting investigations and conducting evidential hearings in a correctional setting, court, or probation hearing.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with the person served population, be selfmotivated and able to motivate others,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must due to the extensive collaboration and networking that is required in the field.
  • The ability to multitask and function within a nontraditional work environment.
  • The ability to be a selfstarted and work independently with limited supervision at times.
  • Must have a high level of compassion and respect for persons with special needs;
  • Bilingual in any language a plus.
