Description

We are looking for a Head of Kiswahili Service (m/f/d) to join our programming team at our Bonn location on August 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This position is initially limited to three years.

OUR OFFER
Management of the "Kiswahili Service" with personnel and budget responsibility in Germany and abroad
Responsible for the future development, content control, and quality assurance of the Kiswahili Service offerings
Planning and management of central administrative requirements, such as scheduling, fee approval, and responding to inquiries from sales or marketing departments
Continuous alignment with the company's goals and quality standards
Editorial responsibility and further development of offerings (audio, video, online, social media) in line with the DW's strategy and task planning
Providing a comprehensive picture of political, cultural, social, and economic life in Germany based on the DW's program mandate
Reliable and responsible interaction with other Programs for Africa editorial teams, Sales and Distribution Africa, and central departments of the DW
Maintaining contacts with key influencers and institutions in the target area and in Germany
Taking on weekend duties and attending conferences
Creating own opinion pieces/comments and other editorial content

WHAT YOU BRING
Completed university degree
Completed traineeship or comparable education
Several years of professional experience as a journalist in a multimedia broadcasting and editorial environment
Several years of leadership experience
Experience in conceptualizing, managing, and financially handling projects in an
