USGI is seeking a Program Support Specialist (PSS) who shall be ready to undertake projects as required to provide programmatic and logístical support to INL/AME.

The PSS will support AME officers to advance program goals and objectives in Africa and the Middle East by drafting documents, collecting data, consolidating information, responding to requests for information, organizing and attending meetings, assisting with program logistics, and providing general administrative and programmatic support to help the AME teams.

Primary responsibilities of the PSS include the provision of logístical and other planning support for study tours and other training events, having day to day responsibilities for public outreach/affairs tasks, and facilitating and tracking implementing mechanism packages.

Moreover, as a member of the Cross Cutting Team (CCT), the PSS will support overarching coordination functions for office-wide taskers.


BACKGROUND
The U.S.

Department of State is the lead institution for the conduct of American diplomacy and the Secretary of State is the President's principal foreign policy advisor.

The Department of State's mission is to advance U.S. national security interests, fight terrorism, protect U.S. interests abroad, and implement foreign policy initiatives that build a freer, prosperous, and secure world.


The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) keeps Americans safe at home by countering international crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad.

INL helps countries deliver justice and fairness by strengthening their police, courts, and corrections systems. These efforts reduce the amount of crime and illegal drugs reaching U.S. shores.


INL's Office of Africa and Middle East Programs (INL/AME) is responsible for the development, supervision, coordination, and implementation of international narcotics control and criminal justice assistance activities overseas.

INL/AME develops, manages, and oversees U.S.

government's foreign assistance programs to support comprehensive criminal justice sector capacity development in countries throughout Africa and the Middle East.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program and Project Development, Implementation, and Closeout_
  • Supports program activities; assists in coordinating the implementation of projects within a portfolio.
  • Facilitates the paperwork and procedures required to award, monitor, and close interagency agreements (IAAs), cooperative agreements, grants, contracts, and other relevant implement agreements or funding actions for final processing by a government representative. Helps track various implementing packages for office.
  • Manages program files and records, tracks reports.
  • Aids in evaluating program effectiveness in relation to the funding expended for regional programs.
  • Conducts research into countries of interest and analyzes information for trends and important developments, including major incidents or reforms; attends relevant briefings; and prepares information and meeting readouts for inclusion in reports as requested.
  • Provides backup support when program officers are out of the office.
  • Study-Visits and Discrete CONUS-Based Events_
  • Provides logístical and programmatic support (CONUS and/or OCONUS) during project implementation, including study visits.
  • Assists in project implementation, manages the schedule, monitors participants, and moderates' meetings and events.
  • Public Affairs_
  • In coordination with INL/PAPD and AME managers, tracks press inquiries and engagement.
  • Prepares publicfacing documents and fact sheets for office, updates content for office SharePoint.
  • Drafts social media and other public affairsrelated blurbs on INL/AME's programs and events.
  • General Program Officer Support_
  • Aids in drafting success stories, briefing papers, talking points, presentations for management review and use.
  • Provides general support to assigned INL/AME teams, including but not limited to assembling briefing books, reports and updates, scheduling meetings, and supporting bureauwide events.
