Do you not shy away from seeing blood, have an interest in technical craftsmanship, and would like to witness a live surgery? Working with high concentration is your strength and you have a lot of empathy? Then you have good qualifications for training as an Operation Technical Assistant (OTA).

Support Surgeons and Patients


As surgical methods become more complex, the operating room requires highly qualified personnel. Operation Technical Assistants (OTAs) are an essential part of the surgical team. As an indispensable member of the team, you will face new challenges every day. You will also be an important source of support for your patients. If you choose to train as an OTA, you will undergo a 3-year training program.

These are the tasks that await you


As an Operation Technical Assistant, you will care for patients before and after surgery and prepare the operating units. You will also assist in surgical procedures. Your tasks are diverse and in addition to the central tasks mentioned above, they include:

  • Psychological and physical care for patients in the operating area
  • Preparation and post-processing of operating units, including required instruments, materials, and equipment
  • Instrument sterilization
