JOB TITLE:
SHT Foreman


REPORTS TO:
Superintendent/Project Manager


SUMMARY
Responsible for all SHT related operations for a designated job or jobs. Maintain a high quality of workmanship while supervising all SHT Mechanics. Work with other Foremen and shipyard employees to coordinate the job. Inspect all equipment for proper working conditions. Perform repairs to equipment as needed.

May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:

  • Perform both physical and organizational duties under leadership of Superintendents/Project Managers.
  • Communicate effectively with inspectors and owner representatives and attend inspections of SHT work.
  • Organize, supervise, lead, and train employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
  • Supervise SHT crew in all essential job requirements.
  • Make certain that installation is done to manufacturers? specifications directing SHT mechanics in correcting any area not up to standard.
  • Submit crewmembers? timesheets into payroll by deadline.
  • Often required to make decisions.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent/Project Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Must direct large numbers of employees at one time in a productive and safe manner.
  • Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, or making recommendations for hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to read and interpret documents as necessary, such as operating and maintenance manuals, safety rules and regulations, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, U.S. metric conversions, weight, and volume.
  • Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
  • Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl, occasionally required to sit, required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel, grip, or handle, regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, required use of vision to see up close, distance, and peripherally, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to do simple to complex math.
  • Must be able to problem solve, organize, and prioritize work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Education.
  • Formal or informal on the job training and 3 years experience in the removal and installation in the Marine Industry.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of equipment and procedures used in tile removal and installation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees. To avoid injury, safety clothing is required along with safety devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing.
  • Overtime or shift work is involved most of the time. Travel often required.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Removal and tile cutting equipment.
