  • Under direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC) the less difficult and complex analytical tasks relating to the provision of federal and state disaster assistance and mitigation grant programs within the Cal OES Recovery Directorate. The ESC will work collaboratively across the Recovery Directorate, with State Agencies as well as with Federal, Local, and Tribal Partners. The ESC provides recommendations on program projects and will assist in developing and generating comprehensive reports and priority initiatives for the Recovery Manager. The ESC works under strict regulatory and administrative deadlines and acts with independence to maintain a routine workload and respond to shortterm special projects and priority assignments. The ESC ensures policies, procedures, and deadlines are met as well as make recommendations on programrelated issues. They advise management on potential program alternatives and impacts. May potentially serve in a lead capacity over other program support staff.

This position is located in Disaster Analysis Unit in Mather with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule based on job requirements.

Training & Development (T&D) select in the Hiring Options and language will auto-populate on bulletin. Training and Development (T&D) assignments are temporary assignments to provide an employee training and experience to move to a different occupational field. A T&D assignment is a formal agreement between the employee, the current supervisor, and the new supervisor. The duration of agreements can vary in length but shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

  • The duration may also be the length of experience needed to meet the minimum qualifications. Please note they are only available to current California State employees who have permanent status.

Working Conditions


Telework - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.


Conflict of Interest - This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
