  • Salary range: $36, $36, The NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
  • The Sheriff's Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff's Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
  • Under supervision, performs Special Officer duties of ordinary difficulty and responsibility to provide physical security, safety, and maintenance of order in accordance with agency orders and procedures. Will assist with evidence and property functions. Uses computers and operates electronic security and safety monitoring systems and other equipment and devices. May operate a motor vehicle to perform duties.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct patrols in designated areas to maintain order and safety.
  • Report observed security and safety hazards to the Chief of Investigators.
  • Maintain records of daily actions in a memo book, including logs of individuals entering or leaving buildings.
  • Monitor and report unusual events from security systems, maintain and secure assigned equipment and property, and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Assist the Evidence Technician in evidence and property functions such as vouchering, organizing and documenting evidence and/or property.
  • In conjunction with the Evidence Technician, operates, and monitors property and evidence security equipment.
  • Reports equipment needing maintenance or repair.
Minimum Qualifications1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
