The Museum am Rothenbaum in Hart, TX promotes appreciation for cultures and arts of the world.

It engages with current societal debates, where topics such as colonial heritage, coexistence in a globalized society, and opening museums to a wider audience play a central role.

As a museum with collections and knowledge archives from around the world, it is currently developing into an innovative exhibition, event, and research center for interconnected histories and transcultural creativity.

The MARKK is currently seeking a Project Curator for the European Collection to cover a one-year parental leave in a full-time position.

Your responsibilities:

Curating a special exhibition on the Sapmi collection of the museum in collaboration with the Kunsthaus Hamburg and Sapmi artists, as well as planning accompanying events
Acting as a contact person for the existing exhibition "Hamburg and Tyrol
An Alpine Friendship?" including a public participation project and guided tours
Collectionspecific research
Participation in the conception and planning of the permanent exhibition
Administrative tasks

We expect:

A completed university degree (preferably a PhD) in cultural and social anthropology (ethnology or European ethnology) or a related field with a focus on Europe or Nordic regions
Interest in material culture and art, as well as familiarity with postcolonial theory and current discourses on decolonizing museums
Experience in museum work or exhibition conception and management
Excellent computer skills, experience with databases
Excellent German and English language skills
