Duties:


  • You will provide legal analysis and interpretations of directives, manuals, laws for attorneys.
  • You will interview potential witnesses and prepares summary interview reports for the attorney's review.
  • You will be responsible for the daytoday client intake, appointment scheduling, and case file management.
  • You will be responsible for collection and maintenance of DES Program metrics and daytoday management of administrative matters.
  • You will prepare and organize case exhibits.
  • You will identify and analyze problems and weigh relevance and accuracy of information.

Qualifications:


  • Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative/judicial decisions; conducting research for the preparation of legal opinions; performing substantive legal analysis; communicating of the issues and legal research and preparing legal documents.
  • Examples of specialized experience includes duties such as:
  • 1) Reviewing legal case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration;
  • 2) Interviewing potential witnesses and prepares summary interview reports for the attorney's review;
  • 3) Using a case management system, database, or other software to manage cases, organize files, and track clients and deadlines;
  • 4) Preparing and organizing case exhibits;
  • 5) Overseeing or administering legal office operations that ensure compliance with established guidelines and requirements;
  • 6) Using electronic databases such as LEXIS or WESTLAW to perform legal research

Education:

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.
D. or equivalent doctoral degree
- or _
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
- or_
LL.M., if related
or
A combination of education experience. The total percentages of qualifying education and experience must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.

This position is a local remote approved position. Selectee must be located within the commute area of the command upon entry to duty. This position may require you to report in person for an established amount of days per pay period.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Twentynine Palms, CA - $84,366 to $109,673
Great Lakes, IL - $80,994 to $105,289
Corpus Christi, TX - $72,914 to $94,785
Groton, CT - $81,745 to $106,266
Bethesda, MD and Washington Navy Yard, DC - $82,764 to $107,590
Portsmouth, VA - $73,572 to $95,641
Pensacola, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Camp Lejeune, NC; Cherry Point, NC; Beaufort, SC - $72,553 to $94,317

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ).

To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
