For over 110 years, the Wettbewerbszentrale has been promoting fair competition across industries as an association of the German economy (members: over 1,100 companies and approximately 800 chambers and associations).

As a self-regulatory body of the economy, it takes legal action against unfair business practices such as misleading advertising. It handles complaints and inquiries regarding the legal regulations of competition law.

In exchange with committees of economic associations and in dialogue with federal ministries (BMJ, BMWK, etc.) as well as the EU Commission, the Wettbewerbszentrale is regularly involved in national and European legislative activities related to competition and consumer protection.

The lawyers of the Wettbewerbszentrale work at the interface between the economy (companies, economic associations, and chambers), justice, and politics.
