    Job Description:

    Department Overview

    The Credit Risk Policy group is accountable for the management and control of credit risk across the organization including oversight and management of credit risk policies and credit risk allowances within TDBG, ensuring alignment with the Bank's risk appetite, business strategy and regulatory requirements.

    The Credit Risk Policy group is also accountable for the oversight of non-retail credit risk models and methodologies, including Borrower Risk Rating (BRR) and Facility Risk Rating (FRR), Expected Credit Loss and Stress Testing models. Scope includes the platforms and interfaces used by stakeholders to generate risk ratings and expected credit loss estimates while ensuring alignment with TDBG policies and OSFI regulatory requirements.

    The Opportunity:

    This is a great opportunity for a seasoned risk management professional to lead a team managing credit risk models that deliver risk ratings and expected credit losses for the Canadian Commercial Banking, TD Securities, and investment portfolios.

    This role acts as interface between stakeholders including credit risk, lines of business, model risk, finance and technology to manage AIRB-compliant risk models used in a variety of applications, including capital and expected credit losses.

    Responsibilities:

    The incumbent will provide model owner oversight for Non-Retail credit risk models including

    • Borrower & Facility Risk Rating Models and Policy-based Rating Methodologies
    • IFRS 9 / Expected Credit Loss Models and Methodologies
    • EWST stress testing models and methodologies

    Key accountabilities include

    Lead Model Ownership accountabilities

    • Provide effective model governance through model risk lifecycle, including Executive Steering Committee and model inventory management
    • Execute model performance monitoring for stakeholder review, including escalation for stakeholder action, where warranted
    • Support and monitor timely resolution of model-related issues by stakeholders, including model findings (OTRs) / observations identified by model risk, internal audit, regulator and/or other relevant stakeholders
    • Create and manage model support documentation, including User Guides

    Support robust model review process

    • Ensure timely model review delivery consistent with model governance framework, including periodic reviews and ongoing validation
    • Support effective model reviews, through working groups, stakeholder challenge sessions and model documentation review (MDRs)

    Act as subject matter expert for credit risk models and methodologies.

    • Undertake training and communication as required for model changes, new models, and as required to support implementation, address findings, OTRs and/or observations
    • Respond to ad hoc requests including participating in regulatory reviews and internal and external audits as needed

    Develop presentations and/or reporting to address requests from senior management, regulators, internal and external audit and other stakeholders related to credit risk models and related processes

    Job Requirements:

    • Undergraduate or graduate business degree or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Previous commercial and/or corporate lending experience strongly preferred (including familiarity with CAIRO / CARMA)
    • Knowledge and experience with credit risk models is a definite asset, including
    • Borrower & Facility risk rating adjudication
    • Model documentation, governance and management
    • Project execution and project documentation
    • Stakeholder management across risk, finance, technology, lines of business (Commercial / TD Securities)
    • Effective team leadership to deliver project initiatives and BAU reporting in a fast-paced and evolving environment
