and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.


We are looking for
part-time seasonal Education Coordinators who will be responsible for enhancing the DYCD SYEP Education curriculum by incorporating presentations, guest speakers, and age-appropriate activities to maintain participant engagement.

The Education Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting each participant in completing a resume.


This position is available at the Youth Employment Department - Edward Byrne Center / Queens

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement, establish and model existing emerging best practices
  • Develop a projectbased service learning curriculum
  • Facilitate orientation sessions and workplace readiness content to support youth in preparing for SYEP participation
  • Coordination of the guest speakers
  • Conduct site visits and program observations during SYEP
  • In collaboration with leadership and the administrative team, create templates needed for SYEP Orientation and Education component implementation, including but not limited to: attendance trackers, assignment trackers, cohort schedules and assignments
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of orientation and training sessions;
  • Participate in SYEP leadership meetings to share Education updates
  • Work with SYEP Program Director to troubleshoot, resolve, and/or respond to concerns and/or conflicts that arise during programming
  • Assist with any other departmental duties and projects as needed
  • Schedule participants for orientation sessions
  • Track attendance & engagement, receive & review participant assignments, resolve issues with virtual platforms
  • Communicate with families and participants to address any concerns or issues

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Model and uphold all Agency rules.
  • Work with the DYCD curriculum to create informative and exciting workshops for the SYEP program participants.
  • Work with the Program Supervisor to oversee the implementation of DYCD orientation and the Hats and Ladders curriculum.
  • Address problems or issues that arise and work to resolve conflicts.
  • Assist the program participants with creating resumes.
  • Submit written and verbal reports as requested.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with a varied group of colleagues.
  • Create and update spreadsheets as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining communication with program participants.
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Salary:
$20.00 Per Hour Up to 30 Hours Per Week


Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Some College Required
  • Experience in lesson planning
  • Teaching/Facilitating experience a plus
  • Strong background in youth development
  • Experience working with students of various ages
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to multitask in a highvolume atmosphere
