Overview:

The UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) is a highly-specialized, interdisciplinary team of environmental, safety, and emergency preparedness & response professionals providing risk, safety, and emergency response services to the campus community at UCLA.

Responsibilities:

Salary & Compensation:
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications:
years of relevant environmental, compliance and storm water experience (required) And

  • Knowledge of general construction, linear construction projects for utilities, and storm water. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience conducting environmental facility audits and compliance reporting. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience with storm water training, outreach, planning and data interpretation for MS4 and IG Permits. (required)
  • Experience preparing written and electronic reports as required by regulatory agencies. (required)
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental laws, rules, and regulations, ability to research and interpret rules and regulations; ability to establish policies and procedures for campus departments. (required)
  • Strong writing skills to research and develop technical reports and correspondence that are grammatically correct, succinct and accurate. (required)
  • Oral communications skills to develop and give informational, succinct, concise and engaging oral presentation to diverse audiences. (required)
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, administrators, managers, and academic personnel. (required)
  • Ability to establish priorities and to meet deadlines, managing a heavy workload. (required)
  • Ability to gather information in order to analyze complex issues and formulate logical and objective conclusions and alternative solutions. (required)
  • Ability to analyze complex technical data, write technical reports, perform complex calculations using emission data, for campus management and regulatory agencies. Working knowledge of computer databases and spreadsheets for managing and storing campus data. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

  • Bachelor's Degree B.S. in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or related field preferred and / or equivalent experience / training (required)
  • Ability to obtain required certifications: Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CESC) within 2 years of hire 2 years (required) And
  • California Registered Professional Engineer, or California Registered Professional Geologist. (required) And
