Job Summary


The Educational Navigator is responsible for ensuring that children receiving early childhood mental health services at Forestdale receive assistance with learning needs.

S/he will provide a boost for children's educational development at a key time in their lives by matching caregivers and young children (ages 0-3) with the high quality early education, day care, and special needs programs.

S/he will provide detailed, relevant information on educational settings, resources, referrals, and parent coaching and partner with families as they navigate the complexities of the New York City early education and childcare system.


Major Responsibilities/Activities for this position include:

  • Maintaining a caseload of 12 or more cases at one time.
  • Assisting caregivers in locating and selecting quality early childhood education settings
  • Liaising communications between educational and healthcare settings to address the developmental needs of young children.
  • Offering coaching and training to parents to support their advocacy for optimal early childhood development.
  • Offering training to early childhood centers on practices that disrupt patterns of intergenerational trauma in families and young children.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in education, behavioral sciences, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience delivering direct services to children, youth and, families using an evidencebased or informed modality
  • Skills and competencies including, but not limited to, oral and written communication and case management.
  • Compliance with:
  • Mandated reporter training.
Applicable provisions of the NYS Education Law with respect to hiring and retaining licensed professionals.


Salary
Bachelors - $27.47/hr - $29.40/hr

  • Bachelors (Bilingual)
- $28.57/hr - $30.50/hr

Masters - $28.57/hr - $31.59/hr

  • Masters (Bilingual) $29.67/hr $32.69/hr
Masters (Bilingual & License) - $35.43/hr
