The Anesthesia Technical Assistant (ATA) finds their main area of responsibility in the anesthesia departments of hospitals or in surgical medical practices with outpatient operating centers. The preparations for a safe anesthesia, the empathetic handling of patients, and the care and monitoring after an operation in the first few hours are the core tasks of the ATA. As part of the preparation for anesthesia, it is necessary to test the monitoring devices for completeness and functionality. The anesthesia devices must be checked according to safety regulations every day. It is also part of the preparation to properly check and provide all materials for intubation. Depending on the type of operation, additional devices must be upgraded and checked. The ATA must also prepare the various medications for different types of anesthesia. In addition to a high level of technical understanding, a very conscientious approach is essential, as mistakes can have an immediate impact on the patient's health. Theoretical knowledge about the effects, side effects, and complications of different anesthesia and pain medications are fundamental skills that an ATA must possess.
